THE ROLE OF NGO IN PREVENTION OF FASD

The article reveals the concept of "alcohol spectrum disorder" and shows the role of NGOs in the prevention work among the population. This activities is shown using as an example Zaporizhzhya regional public organization "Florence." Analyzed projects of the organization for 2008 - 2014 years, aimed at preventing alcohol spectrum disorder among schoolchildren. Revealed the importance of non-medical orientation of organizations in solving medical problems.

     The last five years Mennonite organizations in  Zaporizhzhya Region, Ukraine meet annually to share their faith, experiences,  achievements and problems. Approximately 10 organizations work in this Region helping all categories of people. Every year  one of these organizations host other organizations. This year it was the Mennonite Central Commitee   who  arranged the  meeting in a very nice and cozy place in a hotel “Slava”.

                 1. The Program "Healthy Lifestyle"

In September, we  have been working intensively on the program "Healthy Generation". This academic year we have opened with a series of sessions in two classes (grades 6 and 7) on improvement of psychological climate  and team building among schoolchildren. We also consulted  teachers  on upbringing of the children and  children who have  behavior problems. 1. The Program "Kangaroo"

The program "Kangaroo" provides early social rehabilitation of children with special needs from 0 to 6 years. During the month 11 families  attended our program". Conducted  2 individual consultations with parents and put them on the waiting list for the next year.

This month from our German colleagues  we received gifts for children, bikes and scooters, which the children enjoy riding on the playground; and wigwams, in which children have the opportunity tohave some rest or to hide during games. We also received a bea ... Read more »

 1. The Program "Kangaroo" (work with disable    children)

 During the month, 16 families attended the "Kangaroo"  program. Three families got individual consultations, they  plan  to join our program.

 Every Tuesday several children visit the pool. Some  children are  easily kept on the water, are trained in diving,  swim underwater. All training takes place under the  guidance of a professional  coach and support teachers.

They say that all good things must pass the test of time. This year we celebrate 5^th anniversary of the festival "World of Big Hearts", dedicated to children. Every year the festival is held despite all the difficulties, despite the difficult situation in the country and the city. Because children cannot wait until the situation improves - they need to develop, grow, learn, to make friends. Friends not only with those who just like you, but also with those who different from you. Guys who have visited the festival «World of Big Hearts", will never laugh at a child with special needs, do not point a finger at him on the street, and if he needed help - not pass idly by.
