1. The Program "Kangaroo"
The program "Kangaroo" provides early social rehabilitation of children with special needs from 0 to 6 years. During the month 11 families attended our program". Conducted 2 individual consultations with parents and put them on the waiting list for the next year.
This month from our German colleagues we received gifts for children, bikes and scooters, which the children enjoy riding on the playground; and wigwams, in which children have the opportunity tohave some rest or to hide during games. We also received a beautiful wooden doll house , equipped with toy furniture. Now kids can role-play, learn to interact with each other, actively develop their imagination and fine motor skills.
August was a very hot month, and thanks to our parents kids got the opportunity to use inflatable pools outdoors. After bathing children gladly poured the water from the basin in a watering can and watered our garden that we planted in the spring.
Actively continue to improve our playground. And despite the fact that now the recreation season and parents usually take children for a vacation, the kids go to kindergarten and try not to miss daly activities.
Also in the month of August special attention was paid to the development of self-skills like hanging and folding clothes, clean shoes, toys.
There is a saying: "Prepare sledge in the summer and in winter a wagon". This month we are actively preparing for winter, bought an additional heater and got a gift from our volunteer, a woman knitted wool slippers for each child! Now we are not afraid of any frost! Many thanks, Diana Vladimirovna for a much-needed and warm gift!!!
On the twenty-eighth we visited Zaporizhzhya Children's railway. The children were able to take the train, enjoy the beautiful views of nature, to feel what does it mean to be a real passengers. They also visited a wonderful zoo. The children particularly liked the bears, wolves, foxes, pigs and goats. Now we will repeat the acquired knowledge during group sessions (modeling, applique, drawing).
In August we continue to conduct individual and group lessons, swimming, massages, musical and sporting events. Together with our children and their parents we made a collage "Ah, summer!". We also put some drawings and photographs, letters on the wall. The active participation of all children, parents and staff has a positive effect on communication!
In August we also continued our tradition to celebrate kids’ Birthdays. This month we celebrated the birthday of H. (2 years) and D. (5 years). We had a lot of interesting contests, games, a birthday cake, fireworks, sang songs.
We are glad to share with you the joy that our pupils M. and I. are moving into a new phase of their lives - they go to school.
2. The program "Healthy Lifestyle"
In August we conducted preparatory work for the project "Stop HIV/AIDS in the framework of the program "Healthy generation". So, in fall we plan to conduct 100 interactive lessons for students of 10-11 grades in 50 schools in the city of Zaporizhzhya. The sessions will include an evaluation of students ' knowledge on HIV/AIDS, video show, and entertaining game, which involves the consolidation of knowledge on the issue. The choice of topic is due primarily to the fact that Ukraine occupies a leading role in the spread of HIV/AIDS in Europe. The aim of our project is to raise the level of knowledge about HIV/AIDS among the younger generation and the reduction of new HIV cases.
3. We are just like you!

In August Florence Centre visited teens from the detention Centre twice. By tradition, the school hosted our volunteer coach Sergey Bulatov. The boys played in the long-awaited football, after which there was a little competition in pulling and lifting the coup on the crossbar. With great interest the boys took part in all activities. Upon completion, the guys who showed the best results, were presented with diplomas.
In addition to sport activiites coach Bulatov Sergey conducted for guys a mini-lecture about the need to lead a healthy lifestyle and how a particular sporting event affects their physical development.
Our Centre has received a charitable aid which allowed us to purchase 14 pairs of sports shoes for boys. All the boys were glad to have such a gift! By the first of September, our organization also made the school a gift - a printer. |
