1. "Kangaroo program" (work with disable children)
The "Kangaroo" provides early social rehabilitation of children with special needs from 0 to 6 years.
During the month 17 families attended the "Kangaroo program". Two consultations were held with parents who do not attend our program but are willing to join us. Every day parents whose children attend our program are given advice on children’s development.
Group began attend a new child. Every day we see a dynamic of the development of a child: Daniel became calmer, accustomed to the regime, he likes to play with children, increased active vocabulary, the child goes for a swim with pleasure.
Children visited entertainment center "Gemini" as a charitable action from the recreation centre.
Also continue to use the swimming pool. Children are already floating in the pool and feel "like a fish in water," in fact a month ago we could not imagine this! Many thanks to the volunteers who join us in the pool and assist children in learning to swim.
Children continue to work with a speech therapist.
Every Thursday our program joins young voluteer Olga, a person with special needs. She tries to get professional experience working with children with special needs.
On April 24th the staff of our Centre organized cleanup of a small plot of land close to the Centre which can be equipped with a playground for children. Now we are looking for donors to equip the playground.
On April 25th children were taken on excursion to a livestock farm, where the children were able to see with their own eyes different animals: cows, pigs. They also saw where and how to store milk. The kids got a great pleasure from live communication with a lot of animals that looked at us with kind eyes. After arriving from the farm we had a session “Animals" (appliqué, painting, puppet theater, design, modeling of salt dough).
 2. "Healthy Generation" (work with teens at school on prevention of smoking, drinking, drug use, on communication, decision making, etc.).
In April, we were asked again to conduct a training program "Healthy Generation". Still a hot topic is team building and communication skills training. This time we started with the 4th grade. In April, three sessions were held, to which guys have expressed great interest. We plan to continue the work with this group until the end of May. Also in April, was held a session on "Preventing conflicts" for schoolchildren of the 5th grade.
3. Student’s practicum
In April, we hosted two 4th year students majoring Social Work from Zaporizhzhya National University. Guys were actively involved in the work of the "Kangaroo" program, participated in sessions on the program "Healthy Generation", as well as prepared the necessary materials for the new project "HIV / AIDS". Practicum will continue until May 10th.
Continuing training sessions for students of Economics and Law College. Students are taught communicative skills, learn to work in a team, to take collective decisions. Also, most of the exercises are aimed at self-knowledge.
Students attend classes with pleasure, very active, open and willing to work on themselves. Throughout the lessons observed positive dynamics.
4. "We are just like you!" (work at the detention centre)
In April, teenagers from the detention centre were visited by volunteers from Zaporizhzhye National Technical University Institute of Management and Law (major International Tourism).
Volunteers organized games for the boys "Merry Starts" and a football match, the friendship won the game!
Teenagers always look forward to students, are always open to dialogue with young people. Each visit volunteers confirms the boys that they are just like everyone else!
5. Social action
On April 10 was held the fifth annual integrative concert "The World of Big Hearts." The aim of this event is to integrate people with special needs in society. The main idea of the concert is that everybody has talents, regardless of their mental and physical abilities.
The event consisted of two parts. Part 1 was the game store, where all the children participated in various stations and competed for prizes. And of course, part 2 was the concert itself. First appeared on the stage little stars, or pupils of the "Kangaroo". Their performance was bright, energetic and did not leave any viewer indifferent. The concert was attended by children from a boarding school for visually impaired pupils, representatives of centers for social adaptation of young people with disabilities. Also helped to make our concert bright representatives of dance studios and students from trading school of fashion and style.
