We participated in a round table organized by the Provincial Department of Labor and Social Welfare. The meeting was devoted to the interaction between state and non-governmental organizations to provide assistance to people with special needs.

We also participated in a regional workshop on "Enhancing competence in the implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.” The workshop brought together a number of organizations, founders and beneficiaries who work with people with special needs.

Another activity in which we participated was the Forum of volunteer organizations «The Open Heart". Forum was attended by activists of other organizations interested in promoting volunteerism, as well as students and teachers of Zaporizhzhya National University, and representatives of public organizations.

3. Education of specialists from social services

The staff of our center was invited as experts to conduct a seminar for the staff of a special boarding school "Jerelo." The purpose of the seminar - discussion of effective education and development of children with Down syndrome.

The seminar was focused on issues related to life of people with Down syndrome in the community and opportunities for improvement. Also important was the question of education of teachers and parents of children with Down syndrome.

4. Social action

In September, the Center was actively involved in the preparation for the Forum "Happy family - happy child," which will be conducted in October13.

The aim of the forum is to discuss the ways of  the improvement of the lives of people with special needs. The protagonists of the Forum will be the parents of children with special needs. The event is planned to invite about 20 organizations that work with children with special needs.

5. Kangaroo Program

The "Kangaroo Program" provides an early social rehabilitation of children with special needs from 0 to 6 years. Within a month, 11 people attended the "Kengaroo" program.

For each child, summed up the results of work, adjusted for development for the next month and how to achieve the goals. We note some changes and progress in work.

Yarik begins to respond to the requests  ("Yarik - on" or "Yarik - take",etc.). We observe the successes in eating and self-help skills: takes the cup and drinks,  uses a spoon.

Nikita – pronounces  syllables, if the first letter is a vowel. He mastered a large number of  articulation exercises.

Maxim significantly improved fine motor skills and general motor skills. Maxim can dress himself: pants, shorts, hat, and sometimes even socks and sneakers. Cope with such challenges as:  cut out a square, right stick appliques on parts of the sample.

Three individual sessions was provided for Anna Boiko ( attends the program once a week in the presence of a mother). Anna likes  sessions but only with mother’s presence. Mom says she likes the  articulation exercises. She often does those excercices at home  sitting at front of a mirror.

Conducted 5  consultations for parents  whose children could attend our Program.

Since September, classes began with music  therapist once a week. In class children enjoy singing and dancing. Also this month, twice a week  Maxim and Marc have sessions with a speech therapist.  Mark, after three sessions started to pronounce the sound  "s."
