Work with foreign experts
This month we hosted our
German partners of the "Kangaroo program". Our visitors were the
director of the integrative child complex "Kinderforderverk"
(Magdeburg), Dr. Dieter Dammering with three colleagues-experts in social work,
social pedagogy and physical rehabilitation.
"Kangaroo"
program
The program provides
early pedagogical intervention for children with the following
disabilities: cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, autism, mental
retardation, hyperactivity.
20 children attend the group.
Specialists develop gross motoric, fine motoric, perception, work on cognitive
development and speech. In the form of a game conducted classes of physical
rehabilitation, which included: breathing exercises, sensory-motor
development etc. Every child attend the group individual sessions as well. The
individual program was developed for each child with defined
goals of zone of proximal development .
The picnic for the
children from "Kangaroo" program and their parents was arranged by
"Florence Center". Parents and children had the opportunity to
communicate with German colleagues and to take part in fun activities. The
picnic attended around 50 people.
German specialists made
consultations for the specialists from "Kangaroo" program.
Specialists had the possibility to exchange the experience in the field of
working with children with special needs.
Social events.
Forum
On September 27th the
"Florence Center" together
with Zaporizhzhya National Technical University (Institute of Management and
Law) organized the International Forum on
the integration of people with special needs in society. At the plenary session
German colleagues, the specialists of remedial pedagogy from Magdeburg and Bonn
were the main quest speakers. The Forum was also attended by parents of
children with special needs, experts from regional and city administrations,
state and non-government organizations from Zaporizhzhya and Melitopol’.
The result of the Forum was an
exchange of views with foreign colleques on topic of integration and inclusion,
the roundtable discussion was hold on the issues of interaction
between government and NGO organizations working with people with
special needs. Further interaction was also planned.
The program "We are
just like you!"
This month teens from
Kamyshevahskiy Detention Center and students-volunteers had a sport
event in athletics. Some of the boys were referees during the event. They
recorded the results of the competition of the participants and declared the
winner. The football game is scheduled for the next visit.
Participation in
seminars / conferences
September 27-29 the
representative of took part in training on
grant-writing .Training was carried out within the "Tempus"
program. The knowledge gained will be used to improve the quality
of grant applications submitted by the Center.
On 30th September the workers
of Florence Center took part in the XIV Fulbright Annual Conference
"The Bologna Process in the Ukrainian Education: Achievements and
Prospects" which was at Kyiv National University. Specialists of the
center took an active role in the debates about the situation and prospects of
higher education in Ukraine and came up with information on the implementation
of the Bologna system in Zaporizhzhya Universities.
