The program "Volunteer"

In June we have summarized the work on the project "Volunteer" for the year, selected the most fruitful activities that are planned to continue in the 2010-2011 year. These included:

- Action "Birthday": greeting children with special needs, on their birthday at home;

- Action "Call to visit a fairy tale": a fairy show which greets children with special needs with New Year's holidays at home;

- Home care for children with special needs: identifying the urgent needs of children associated with their development, as well as organizing recreational activities;

- Organization of leisure activities for children with special needs.

The result for the year had been a positive feedback from our clients and the desire of volunteers to continue the voluntary work that has been the undisputed measure of the effectiveness of the program.

Work on  grants proposals

 In June, work continued on two grants: work with children with special needs and work with young offenders.

PR. Working with partners.

In order to build partnerships and to disseminate information about the Center "Florence" in June, meetings were held with representatives of Zaporizhzhya classical university, the Department of Execution of Punishment, Children's mental hospital, the health care department of the City Council. The results of these meetings were the preparation of new projects on mutually beneficial terms.

The project "School".

In June, continued the selection of materials for conducting training classes and lectures in schools in the 2010-2011 year, and the selection of lecturers  who are ready to participate in the activity.

The practice of students

On June 19 was summarizing the work experience of 5 students from Zaporizhzhya National Technical University faculty "Management of physical culture and sports" specialty "physical rehabilitation" (2 months).

The practice of students - rehabilitators was divided into two parts: working with children with special needs on the program "Kangaroo" and work with young people with special needs in Komunars'ke territorial center.

Work with children included massage, physiotherapy, movement games. During practice 12 children of the program "Kangaroo" took opportunity to use the services of rehabilitators. Activities in territorial centres constituted group sessions, which included outdoor games, relay races. Sessions were held 4 days per week for 5 weeks in a group of 10-15 people. Young people quickly got used to new sessions and students who undertake them, and eagerly awaited the arrival of each of them, gladly participated in the activities.

Program "Kangaroo"

Work with children with special needs,  individual and group work goes on. In  June over 80 sessions with children were held. Additionally classes in the park  have been held. Musical instruments are widely used during activities.  An improvement was noted in children in the field of fine motor skills and speech development

"We are like you!"

In June, was organized holiday "Tourist ferry for students of Kamyshevahskaya detention centre school. This event provided an opportunity for each participant to feel tourism campaign. The meeting ended with a football match. The children really enjoyed the holiday, all experienced a lot of positive emotions and got a lot of impressions. Students of program "International Tourism" of Zaporizhzhya National Technical University promised to come the next school year.
