The
charity auction and fair, organized by the Institute of Management and "Florence
center” were in October. The event was held within the project "We are just like
you!” The main purpose of the event was to collect funds for inmates of the Detention
center. Collected money will be used for sports, concerts and recreational
activities of young people.
"Kangaroo”
program works with children with special needs and their families, especially
developing group work with children. Experts note the positive changes in
children's communicative abilities, vocabulary of children, as well as
improving fine and gross motor skills.
Earlier
this month, the meeting with a psychologist was organized for "parent’s club”.
Parents were given the opportunity to get answers to their questions related to
upbringing of children.
During the month volunteers organized 4 puppet’s
shows. And volunteers also continue to go to disable children’s homes congratulating
with Birthdays. Congratulations are done in the form of fairy-tales with
interesting costumes.
In
October, two meetings of the cinema club "Active position” were organized by the
4th year students. Films "The Flight over the Cuckoo's
Nest" and "The Fighting Club" were chosen for the sessions. The leaders
of the cinema club made a very good discussion; spectators were very active and
pleased.
This
month we are developing teaching materials to train future lecturers to do
public presentations. We conduct training sessions on communicative skills for
the 1st year students from different Departments (social pedagogues,
journalists, psychologists). Participants attend classes with pleasure, saying
that all the acquired knowledge and skills will be very useful to them in later
life.
Also
in October we start training courses for trainers (TOT). Sessions are held once
a week and contain all information necessary for future coaches.
Volunteers
and staff of the Centre "Florence" continued lecturing on FASD.
Lectures were held for 90 groups of parents and children from different parts
of the city. Teachers, children and parents got very important information on
FASD and we received very positive feedback from them.
Our volunteers have started the project "We
are schoolchildren”. The aim of the project program is the development of young
people with special needs the basics curriculum (writing, reading, etc.). In
October were purchased textbooks, reference books to work on this program. |
