At the conference the Ukrainian side was presented by two scholars. L. Romanenkova made a presentation about the ruining of the stereotypes of elderly people in Ukraine. The materials of the conference is planned to be published. Foreign professors visited the "Florence centre” and highly evaluated the work which was done there”.

2. "Healthy Generation" (work with teens at school on prevention of smoking, drinking, drug use, on communication, decision making, etc.).

In May, we finished our  trainings on the  program "Healthy Generation". We summed up the results and awarded the most active participants of the training sessions on communication in  grade 6, and discussed  plans for the next year.

We continue our preparation for the project on FASD. 225 lectures on this subject will be held for children, their parents and teachers in 30 schools of the city of Zaporizhzhya from September 2013 to March 2014. Hands outs and CD for the project are prepared, lecturers are invited.

 

3. Student’s practicum

In May, we hosted a group of students of  the Economics and Law College. The students enjoyed the sessions on communicative competence, team building. Especially they like group work. In June we  plan to finish the set of trainings and evaluate the results.

 

4. "We are just like you!" (work at the detention centre)

This month the detention centre was visited by the students from Zaporizhzhya National Technical University, Institute of Management and Law "international tourism". Students organized  sport fun events. School students are always happy to participate in all competitions and with great anticipation waiting for the volunteers.

And as a good tradition meeting  was ended with a football game.

 

5. The "Kangaroo"

The "Kangaroo" provides an early social rehabilitation of children with special needs from 0 to 6 years. During the month  9 people attended  the "Kangaroo" program. For each child was developed a program for a month and then was done the evaluation of what was achieved. We note some changes and progress in the development of children.

Nick learned to walk down the hill and count the step up to 7 when going up. Call all the children by name. Learn to take off socks and shoes by himself.

Sasha's mom was recommended to stick to a diet for her son, and in afew days he stoped to eat candies the whole day and began to eat well at lunch. And perform finger gymnastics elements very well. Produces new sounds. 

Jaroslav began to pronounce  the words "mother", "woman."

Ian helps with cleaning: washing dishes, wiping the table, sweeping and scrubbing the floor. Constantly counts to 10. Started playing hide and seek.

Daily walks with children in the nearest park helps in the progress of integration of children with special needs in society.

For two months, we hosted a student for practicum from the Zaporizhzhye National Technical University (major physical rehabilitation). There were 3 individual psycho-pedagogical consultation with parents of children with disabilities and 4 socio-pedagogical consultations with parents and students.

Our specialist  made a presentation at the workshop of the city social work agency "The cooperation with  parents is a guarantee of success of the rehabilitation process”,  on the topic of self-help group of parents with special needs.

Program "Kangaroo" was visited by the German leader  Dieter Dammering.
