1. Program
"Kangaroo"
The program provides early pedagogical intervention for children with
the following nosologies: cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, autism, mental
retardation, Hyperactivity,
Hydrocephalus.
• Classes – 570
hours
• Organizational Work – 98 hours.
- Preparation for the concert on Women's Day ( 8th of
March);
- Preparation for the integrative concert "The light of Big Hearts- 3";
- Preparation for classes;
• Methodological work – 120 hours.
- Preparation of teaching materials in accordance with
the themes of work and taking into account the individual characteristics of
each child;
- Writing about the results of individual programs of
children;
- Restoration of purchased and home-made materials;
- Self-reflection and discussion sessions;
- Writing a weekly report on performance;
- Writing a report on the work of the
"Kangaroo" in the current month.
TOTAL: 788 hours.
Group lessons (Mon, Tue, Thu, Fri ):
Group is attended by 16 children.
In March we had: Group classes; Individual lessons on
an individual programs; Music lessons; Elements of Play Therapy; Elements of
Fairy tale therapy; Dance therapy; Physical rehabilitation; Games.
All children show positive development. During the day
they are divided into small groups according to their interests, and each group
is engaged in different activities: playing with dolls, with toy cars,
constructors, lay on the table and draw. Each child chooses which of the
activities he/she wanted to participate
in. This is great progress for our children, because they had the motivation,
they have learned to understand each other, hear each other and communicate
with each other in order to make a joint product of the activity.
In March, a lot of progress was observed in Dasha's B.
development. This girl with cerebral palsy began to walk, even though the
doctors put her prognosis that she would never go. Her mother is very happy and
all the staff are very excited about this event.
Ivan K., diagnosed with autism, began to speak, before
it was developed a passive vocabulary, and now the child uses active
vocabulary, and Ivan participate in all
activities with great interest.
This month we were very much involved in the preparation of the annual integrative concert
for the community "The light of big hearts".
2. Students' practicum
In March, we hosted a group of students major in
Social Work Zaporizhzhya National University. They will participate in
organizing our annual integrative concert "The Light of Big Hearts”, play games
with children before the concert, learn to conduct presentations for
staff of social work services, develop the educational materials for school
children.
3. Social events. Integrative
concert "The Light of Big Hearts"
In March, an important part of the activities of the
"Florence Center" was the preparation for the integrative concert "The
Light of Big Hearts”', which will take place on April 4, 2012. This year more
than 30 different public and government organizations and agencies, schools and
internats were invited. 50 volunteers from different Universities, colleges and
trade schools will take pat in this
event, they will entertain children before a concert. In the second part of the event (at the
concert) will participate many groups of
children with and without disabilities. It would be the third concert of this
kind organized by our centre.
4. Participation in seminars,
conferences
In March we have participated in a city methodical
seminar of social pedagogues and psychologists. We made a presentation about the work of the "Kangaroo” program for
disable children. The discussions after
the presentation showed a great interest to the experience of the work of NGO
by state structures.
We have conducted a leaning seminar on prevention of
burn-out effect for the staff of the Department of Labor and Welfare. According to the survey participants were all
familiar with this phenomenon, but the information was very relevant.
"Florence Centre was invited by the NGO
"UkrProstir" to participated in the round table discussion "Intersectoral
partnership in addressing needs of local
communities', which took place on March 29. The round table was attended by
representatives from governmental and non-governmental organizations of the two
cities Zaporizhzhya an Lviv. Our presentation was about the ways of inclusive education in Zaporizhzhya, and the
steps which were taken by the Centre.
5. Training Workshops
Our specialist continued training sessions in school
number 11 on "reproductive health". The specialists noted the
positive dynamics of the group. All 15 members are active in the performance of
tasks.
We also started training sessions at school № 2 for
kids of the 5th grade, aimed at establishing positive relationships
among children. Through these activities
28 children could become friends and learn to work as a team.
6. "Just a Miracle!"
In March, started a new family group, three pairs. There have been six classes and
the total amount for the group sessions is 15. Sessions for parents include different
types of activities: working with information, watching videos on the topic of
preparation for childbirth, creative activities, work with the body, relaxation
exercises. Future parents discussing their current issues to the topic, do
gymnastics, learn techniques of natural pain relief, draw, and most importantly
- get positive emotions and psychological support.
At the beginning future fathers come to class alert, but over time they are actively
involved in the work and happy to come to use: "It is great that in the
classroom, we not only learn new information, but it is fun and interesting,
you are charged with a positive energy, which you bring home. "
7. Work on the grant proposals
In March, we have prepared a grant proposal to make a
family holiday and plant an Allen Family in the Park "Oak grove." The
grant application was sent to to participate in the contest of projects "Pіdtrimka Gromadska іnіtsіativ in Ukraine» (network "Gromadskі іnіtsіativi in Ukraine»), but the grant was not selected for the finals. |
