Social action

It has become a tradition that in March we have an annual event "World of great hearts". This year we hold a concert on March, 1. The main goal is to integrate children and youth with special needs in society, to draw an attention to the problems of people with special needs. Playground for all children and a concert with participants of different groups and organizations of Zaporozhzhye showed that integration is not only possible but also necessary! Such activities should be conducted as often as possible. The next concert is scheduled for April 2012.

We are grateful to all those who participated and attended our event, who wasn’t left indifferent to the problems of people with special needs. 

 

Students' Practicum

In March, students-social peadgogues of Zaporizhzhya National University continued their practice. As a part of the practicum they took an active part in the integrative action "World of great hearts and continued to work with children with special needs in the program "Kangaroo”. By March 18, the results of the practice were summed up, the reports of students were given. Here are some comments left by students: "Finally, we were able to see in practice what is social pedagogy".
 "It was exiting that my opinion was taken into consideration, my ideas were accepted". "It was great to feel the member of the team who works with such enthusiasm"."Before this practice, I was afraid to work with children, but now I realize that it's great and I can do it! "

Also in March the volunteering practice of students-social workers of Zaporizhzhya National Technical University has began. The students were offered a choice of several activities in which they could take part. As a result, s a result, students were grouped into sub- groups and carry out such kinds of activities:

-          work with older people in the Mennonite family house (4 students),

-          preparing puppet show for children with special needs of "Kangaroo" program, (4 people),

-          work with young people with special needs in Kommunarskiy territorial center(4 students);

-          preparing lecture-presentations for parents of children with special needs(5 people),

-          continue activity of students' pedagogic Cinemaclub in ZNTU (3 students),

-          information search for a booklet about the social structures of Zaporozhzhye city.

 Thus, students can gain professional skills and understanding the specifics  of social work as a profession.

 

The program "We are just like you!"

For teens of  Kamyshevahskaya rehabilitation school were hold the sport events. This time they had sport competition and also volleyball game. The kids really liked this form of work and they look forward to each visit.

 

Program "Healthy Generation"

In March, lecture-presentation "Prevention of Smoking” for students of school № 49 (5 and 7 classes) was conducted. Video clips and interactive exercises were also used during the lecture. The pupils were very active, they asked questions on the topic, took part in the discussion, answered the questions of the lecturer.

Program "Kangaroo"

The group sessions of 3 hours 3 times a week are conducted. Each group session shows  positive results and progress. Children develop communication skills, learn to communicate in a group and interact with each other, know how to call each other, began to make friends and do everything together. Even those children who have never interacted with other kids before now show interest to a group of their peers and come to sessions with pleasure. Parents are very satisfied with this form of work.

This month, sessions were held to develop the following areas:

- "I am a child” - the study of body and body functions (for language development in this area are used verbs);

 - "Me - and others” - my family, my friends, my garden;

- "Me - and the world” - my country, my city, my street, the spring (the flowers and seeds were planted in pots). Children planted by themselves, now they water and take care of plants by themselves.

Music lessons are continued, children have already learned a few songs, perform rhythmic movements, play musical instruments (chimes, tambourine, drum, balalaika, spoons, triangles, castanets).

This month 4 new families asked for help, they were consulted and with some we started to work already.

Individual classes are also conducted and bring positive results: many children with autism perform the tasks offered to them, better come into contact with specialist and also with other children.

Also continues to work the parent club. In March, were held 2 meetings in the form of lectures with the elements of the discussion on "Communicating in a child's life." Also meeting of  the parent club was held in Leninskiy territorial center.
