1. The development of
educational materials
In June, the training
materials on working with volunteers (course "Theory and practice of
volunteer activities") were prepared for publishing. This guide
will provide students coming next year for practice with necessary knowledge
about activities of Florence Centre. Students can choose the activity they
would like to do, and also can have the requirements for the work performed.
2. Program "We are just
like you!"
In June the orienteering for
pupils of rehabilitation school was hold. The boys learned to put the tents,
which brought them great pleasure. In the end of the meeting together with
volunteers they cooked borscht and sang around the campfire.
3. Work on the grant
In June the grant proposal
focused on children with special needs and their parents was written.
4. Social action (The
"Little Red Riding Hood")
In June, was finished the
collecting of information about organizations working with social protection of
different population groups. All information was organized in the form of
directory which can be used by clients of the organization.
5. "Kangaroo"
program
We continue to work with
children with special needs. June 22 matinee was held dedicated to summer. The
hall was decorated for a summer theme; the walls were decorated with carvings,
hand-made paintings. Children sang, danced, and played accomplishing with
musical instruments. All songs were performed with piano accompaniment. At the
end of the holiday each child was presented with a gift.
During the group sessions the
children develop social competence - they learn to interact with each other,
make friends, follow the instructions of adults in a group - what is the goal
of our work. During summer period all sessions are held in the form of games to
repeat the studied material and also to bring in elements of the summer. Also
in June, children without disabilities began to visit the program, they learned
about our center for reviews of other parents.
Individual work is carried out
with two categories of children - children with autism and children with
cerebral palsy (age 2 years). The primary goal of work is to develop of
cognitive processes and intelligence, the formation of the associative
learning. The specialists of the program also work on fine motor skills,
object-oriented activity is formed using geometric shapes made of natural
materials.
The final meeting with parents
was held in June to discuss the results and to explore the perspectives. The
main outcome of the meeting became decision to look for resources to open a
group for school-age children. The initiative group of parents was formed to
write the project together with Florence Center.
6. Training workshop
On June 4-5, the training
session "Exploring your inner self” by Roger Queens (psychotherapist from Netherlands)
was hold for the staff of Florence center and other interested. |
