1. The Program "Kangaroo"
  During the month, 12 children attended the "Kangaroo" Program.
There have been 5 individual consultations and psychological assistance to the families. The program began to visit 2 new kids.
This month program staff organized the third forum for parents of children with autism, "How to get rid of the children's tantrums." Parents had the opportunity to not only get some information and practical advice on autism, but also actively exchanged personal experiences and received help and support from each other.
This month we continued to temper the kids and take water treatments in the open air in an inflatable pool. Our children got a lot of fun!
We would like to share the most joyous event! In August, with the support of the NGO "Zaporozhye vector" and Canadian NGO “Canada Ukraine Agrarian Development” we purchased and installed a wonderful game complex! It is a beautiful swing, a slide and a sandbox! Now our kids with more enthusiasm run to the playground! We plan to provide an opportunity for children living in neighboring houses, enjoy the playground too.
This month, with the support of the hotel complex "Vodograi" and Yacht Club "Elite Sports" we had a boat trip on the Dnieper River. The kids got a lot of impressions from the walk, admiring the surroundings, breathe fresh air. Each child had the opportunity to feel like a captain sitting at the helm.
 
After the walk the children waiting for food, enjoyed the beautiful area of the complex: a zoo, a children's playground.
This month we have prepared for each child a card with their photos and names. These cards are suitable for use on group and individual lessons, allowing the children to memorize and learn each other's names.
Every day during August we got all kinds of possible assistance from our volunteer Maxim: he actively participated in group sessions and walks, played games and helped to organize sporting events. Many thanks for your help and involvement in our lives and in the lives of our kids!
2. The Students Practicum
 
Despite the fact that it was summer, the students came to our practice. Future social workers learn their professional skills at practice. So, a Uni student Svetlana helped in the "Kangaroo" program. For a month she became part of the team and fully implements the obligations of employees of the group for children with special needs. According to Svetlana, she was very pleased to apply her knowledge in practice, she was able to creatively helped the children!
3. "We are Just Like You!"
 In August we continued our work at the Detention Centre. We conducted a survey among children related to their knowledge about healthy lifestyles. The winner, who best fulfilled the task, has been awarded with prizes. Children enthusiastically answering all questions and showed a fairly high level of knowledge about health. In order to build up their stable motivation for a healthy lifestyle, we have planned a lot of sporting events for the coming year. We plan to have football, volleyball, badminton, and various sport activities.
4. Work with foreign specialists
This month, we got acquainted with the new members of Mennonite Central Committee (psychologists). As a form of work was planned to have a round table, interviews, advice on counseling of clinical psychologists (on child abuse issues) with professors and students of Zaporizhzhya National University Faculty of Social Pedagogy and Psychology.
5.Cultural activities
 Our friendly staff has continued the great tradition of joint visits to cultural events. This month, our choice fell on a master class in the shop "Veselі karamelі."
All, without exception, were just delighted with what was happening! For an hour we seem to have plunged into a fairy tale childhood. Watching the rainbow tints of caramel, we are looking forward to the moment when we will taste delicious candy!
We would like to thank employees of a shop which allowed us for an hour to return to childhood and to get a lot of impressions and positive emotions!
